Voting is just the beginning of our work toward a just and equitable future. By organizing, mobilizing, and aligning with communities that share our vision, we can build lasting power and drive meaningful change beyond Election Day.
Aligning with Our Vision and Our Values
As we approach this election season, our focus is clear: we are committed to building a just and equitable world. This election is not just about casting a vote; it’s about aligning with people and communities who share our vision of freedom, justice, and gender equity. Our votes should reflect our collective values, but our work extends far beyond Election Day. We are not merely seeking to change minds; we are striving to build power with those who are committed to this vision for the long term.
This is how we continue to build a movement that grows in power, mobilizes communities for lasting change, and transforms our collective vision of justice into reality. We’re looking to empower individuals and communities to take sustained action, ensuring that our collective efforts contribute to a long-term vision of justice and equality.
Beyond the Ballot: Taking Action for Lasting Change
While voting is a critical step in expressing our values, it’s only the beginning. To truly make an impact, we must go beyond the ballot. Here’s how you can take action:
- Get Out the Vote: Mobilize your community to ensure that everyone who can vote does vote, particularly those who may not always turn out.
- Phone Banking: Join phone banking efforts to reach out to low-propensity voters and those who might be on the fence and encourage them to participate in the election.
- Join or Start a Local Advocacy Group: Engage with or establish local groups focused on advancing gender justice and other key issues in your community.
- Organize Your Congregation: Rally your congregation around an issue related to gender justice, creating a united front for change. Learn more about getting involved with UU the Vote here.
- Deepen Your Electoral Work: Dive deeper into the electoral process by volunteering for campaigns that align with our vision, helping to shape the outcomes in meaningful ways.
Together, we can harness this election season as an opportunity to exercise our rights and desires for freedom. Don’t be afraid to start the conversation around the value of everyone’s voice. And remember, the true work lies in what we do beyond the ballot box—continuing to organize, advocate, and build power in our communities for the world we know is possible.
